Privacy Policy

Effective August 19, 2026

Short version: Better 311 has no accounts, advertising, analytics, tracking, or app-owned server. Searches and optional location queries go directly to the public data services needed to answer them.

What Better 311 stores on your device

The app stores your saved addresses and a small list of recent searches locally on your device so the app can show them again. This local data is not sent to a Better 311 server. iOS may include app data in device backups according to your device settings.

What leaves your device

What we do not collect

Better 311 does not collect names, email addresses, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, browsing history, precise location history, or payment information. It does not use analytics or tracking SDKs.

Third-party services

Fresh civic records come from DataSF and the City of Oakland open-data portal. Maps use Apple MapKit. Address fallback geocoding may use OpenStreetMap Nominatim. Those services receive requests under their own policies and terms.

Website visits

The Better 311 website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless, privacy-first analytics service. It reports anonymous, aggregate visitor statistics such as approximate country, device type, and pages viewed. No cookies, personal data, or individual tracking is involved.

Children

Better 311 does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone. It is a public-data lookup tool and has no account system.

Changes and contact

We will update this page if the app's data practices change. For privacy questions, email support@fromthescope.com.
